So, throwing this here so that we can put out some discussion about what we like, dislike, want to see, don't want to see, etc., about the new expansion.

I'll post my own thoughts once I can get to the actual web page for it.

For the most part, I am loving it.

It's no secret that I'm a big dirty fel lover, so fighting the legion proper, finishing the fight with Gul'Dan, and becoming a demon hunter are all gigantic plusses. The fact that demon hunters are so mobile makes me think they took a few cues from guild wars 2, which is both a good and bad thing. Much as I like being able to attack and move, done wrong it could really be annoying.

The artifact system is a cool idea, though I wonder how/if it will affected by transmog for roleplaying purposes.

Love the class halls. Ebon Hold is a neat area that gets so little traffic for death knights, so a more involved version of that, whether private or public, would be really cool to frequent, provided there's something to go there for beyond just having to re-enchant a new weapon. This is also the closest idea we get to having something related garrisons so far. Running those are awesome, really hope they incorporate it into this xpac.

The Broken Isles it seems is the closest we're getting to a risen Aszhara (unless they're saving that for a patch), and they briefly mention that Aszhara will be fought this xpac. I feel like Aszhara and the naga could have warranted an xpac on their own, so having them share the spotlight with the legion, while it makes total sense, is a bit disappointing. Likewise for the Emerald Nightmare, which would almost certainly be big enough for an xpac zone on its own.

That's all I can remember of importance from the showing, but so far I'm extremely hopeful. There are some awesome ideas here, and I'd hate to see them squandered, nor for the new Draenor mechanics to be unceremoniously dropped

FOR THE LEGION!

There is an awful lot that I'm absolutely in love with here.

Just like when WoD was announced, my gears are spinning with potential story and character development. Seeing more vrykul development, hearing about the dungeons like Helheim, and then other details like... well... more of the details... I was enamored. We have all this AND THEN the Emerald Nightmare, Azshara and the naga, the wardens' prison, the Tomb of Sargeras, etc etc. There is just so much here!

We also know that Genn and Sylvanas are going to be major players. That's cool! (Even if Sylvanas' new model, so far, looks very silly)

Not sure I'm in love with artifacts. I like the looks, the customizations and the lore going into them... but it's going to feel weird having everyone and their mother walking around with the Ashbringer. SPEAKING OF... I'm pretty sure we are about to lose a lot of major characters. Thrall, Varian and Tirion seem to be at risk off the top of my head. I know that there are plenty of people who aren't fans of the characters, but I, for one, am. It'll be pretty strange to see them go (if they do). That said I sort of have to make Talarien a fire mage now. Felo'melorn!

Can't really judge class halls until I see them. Hopefully they can function somewhat like garrisons and be accessible to party members and such.

They've got about 10 dungeons coming and all of them sound unique and great from the few details we have. Same with raids... though the information on them isn't as expansive, which has me a bit worried. I'm hoping for MoP raid numbers, not WoD.

I don't PvP but the stuff there looks interesting.

Demon Hunters? Do want. Looking at my existing character roster right now and debating whether or not my future double-jumping elf will be a pre-existing alt whose been changed or a new character.

Now, of course, I'm a lore guy first and foremost and a lore schnottzi to some... so I do have my issues and I can be very nitpicky.

The lore of the Broken Isles. Correct me if I'm wrong but weren't they raised by Gul'dan in the Second War? The Tomb of Sargeras definitely was and it was built into Suramar. Also... why does it look so radically different geographically? Why is the place not tropical? It was in Warcraft III! Why is the architecture so different!? Where do all of these races keep coming from!?!?

What about Jaina? Why is she abdicating to Khadgar? Was she voted out of office for deviating too far from neutrality? Does the MAGE player take her position in the Violet Citadel while she goes off and fully joins the Alliance? What does it mean that she's "pissed"? Is she a future raid boss? That would be worrying to me considering what's also happening over with Maiev. Can't go killing all of our badass ladyfolk, now can we!?

What about Illidan? He's all over the promotional material and we see Gul'dan resurrect him. What happens next?

Really, most of my concerns come down to a lack of explanation for the most part. I am giddy with most of what I'm seeing but I need details so my mind doesn't go to all those horrible, WOD-induced-jadedness places.

I'm also a bit worried that Blizz is literally taking most of what they have and throwing it into a single expansion. I'm very excited about the Nightmare, Azshara, learning more about the Aspects and their histories and seeing the Tomb of Sargeras... but it's all in one expansion. At the same time I feel like they could use more zones.

I'm impossible to please.

I've also just saw that Blizz is planning on doing a comic series, a video series and what they're calling an 'audio drama' for the expansion.

This pleases Grazzug.

Demon Hunters. Something I've wanted for a long time, but not entirely how I wanted them. Sure, hero class and all, but only the elves? I mean, for Horde characters I play almost exclusively Belf, but my Human would be a Demon Hunter in a heartbeat. Still, the way it looks, the way it seems like it will play, it looks so fresh compared to the other classes.

A SPEAR FOR SURVIVAL HUNTERS? MELEE HUNTERS? WHAT THE HELL?

*ahem* Gul'dan is the only orc, but has he ever really been orc aligned? Knowing that this is what they wanted to do with the expansion after WoD, WoD feels a bit better to me.

The Broken Isles suffer a lot from the RTS look syndrome. For instance, go back to Warcraft 2 and look at Draenor in the expansion. There were no trees anywhere, Draenei didn't exist, lumber was mushrooms...I'm pleased to see that they are willing to make changes that will look epic, and epic this continent looks.

Storyline wise, I love this. So much time building Raelisa up, having her research going, everything she has done, now she gets to put it all to use. Unfortunately, due to events she doesn't have as much support as she wanted, so she might have to finagle some strength over the Seekers. Not to mention the Seekers can go back to Titan lore, learning about ancient elves, and being generally more to their original calling than just fighting.

There is a lot of good showing here, now to just wait and see how it comes out.

Looks pretty awesome overall! I'm excited for the new areas, demon hunters and more lore.

Kinda WTFing at melee Survival hunters. Not liking that as much.

Can we have it now please?

Some more info here -
http://www.icy-veins.com/forums/topic/13199-wow-legion-details-at-gamescom-interview-with-tom-chilton-ion-hazzikostas/

- Artifact weapons can be transmogged to look like other weapons
- The Emerald Dream is not a part of this expansion (they are leaving this open for the future)
- Khadgar is now the leader of the Kirin Tor and has returned it to neutral with the Horde
- Karazhan is going to be a featured place
- Lots of class and talent changes, with a large push to give each class/specialization a unique feel. For example - survival hunters will now be a melee/pet class, beast hunters will be range/pet, and marksman hunters will be range/no pet.
- There are going to be separate pvp and pve talent trees, with pvp talents only functioning in pvp situations
- Lots of updates for the professions
- Dalaran will be the capital city for both factions

No additional info about Jaina. I suppose Blizzard is doing their usual thing - giving her a boyfriend in exchange for stripping her of all power and influence.

Really liking the sound of the artifact weapons, the class orders and overall the idea of focusing on class idenity.

That being said, why isn't the rogue order hall located in Ravenholdt? Dalaran sewers just seems like a really weird choice to me.

Was not expecting demon hunters to ever be in the game so I was very surprised by that, and honestly the biggest selling point for me is that they get a double jump >.>. Very interested to see how the class plays.

There are a lot of really awesome ideas for this expansion, but I will remain cautious. WoD has jaded me quite a bit, and I don't think I'm the only one that it has. Really hoping the pendulum swings the opposite direction and this becomes one of the best expansions ever but...we'll wait an see.

Honestly, the expansion looks fantastic, and why? Because why not give me more reasons to create ANOTHER elf?

Seriously, though...the artifact weapons look incredible from the display models, and I can see them definitely being interesting for transmog...which brings me to point #2:

Transmog options are being expanded...somehow. I've not seen any actual explanation on how it's being expanded, but I'm definitely looking forward to MORE options on making my characters look all spiffy. I mean, the obvious options are to remove the level lock on gear aesthetic (which never really made much sense to me but whatever) or possibly adding cross-class transmogrification, like all the cloths getting to switch between their partner class exclusives. I dunno...more options are good for me, though.

AND DEMON HUNTERS! Holy hell, the excite when I saw that the other day. The increased mobility looks like a lot of fun, and, well...I loved playing as a warlock, sooooooo...

I mean, I was extremely disappointed with what I saw in WoD and that's why I couldn't even justify paying for more game time recently (which makes me sad because I loved hanging with you guys). This, however...yeah, I'm probably gonna bring my account back simply because of the potential.

The transmog stuff I've seen mentioned is 'We’re improving the transmogrification system, allowing you to collect item appearances and save your favorite outfits without sacrificing precious bag space.'

Which sounds like it's all about allowing you to save gear/weapon appearances without having to save the actual item, rather than further breaking down the restrictions already in place.

I'll be extremely happy with this, as my bank and void storage is full to bursting with identical gear with slight color variations.

Oh, well...dang. I'll happily take that! I don't really have the gold to justify constantly throwing things into my void storage at the moment.

Firstly, yay, I'm back!

Secondly, here are my thoughts on the upcoming expansion.

I thought WoD ended pretty quickly, but I suppose since most people thought of it as poor expansion, blizz must be trying to move on.

I like Broken Isles. Not only does it take us back to Azeroth, but the new zones open up interesting new story ideas. Highmountain in particular, because of the presence of the Highmountain Tauren, who look like they have antlers in the trailer. Tauren took a backseat during WoD (seemed like Olin was the most important Taur to the story), and I'm excited to see them have some new lore.

I want the naga and nightmare elements we see in the Broken Isles to be only a taste and that they eventually get their own expansions, with the former being underwater/scattered islands and allowing you to be a ship captain.

Demon hunters looked awesome, and double jumping and wing gliding has tons of uses, particularly in WoW parkour. Not to mention I could have a nice demonic character, without having to be some cloth wearing spell caster. I had so many new character ideas for a demon hunter. Then I saw that demon hunters could only be elves. That made me sad, although I can still look forward to making a nelf or a new belf (or turning Kal to the dark side :P ). Personally I hope that they change their minds on what races can be demon hunters. Not all races of course (Panda demon hunters sounds silly to me), but more than two races *cough*add worgen*cough*.

Illidan being involved again is interesting. I feel like he died too fast in BC. He always makes me think of Scar from the Lion King. That whole evil brother type thing, and Scar's song “Be Prepared” makes me think of Illidan's famous “You are not prepared” line.

Sylvanas and Genn being involved also makes me happy. Worgen and undead are two races that I like, and we haven't seen their struggle in some time.

Dalaran being neutral again is cool, Strakk will probably want to chill out there now, but I hope they give Jaina fair treatment storywise.

As for melee survival hunters, that actually sounds interesting to me. I'm pretty big on melee in game, with Clorg being my only real ranged character. I plan to try it out, see how I like it. Plus, Clorg does a large amount of melee ICly for a hunter anyway.

Class order halls sound neat, and I'm still thinking about what sort of roll that could play for my own characters.

I look forward to the more bag space that I'll have from the t-mog updating. Particularly for my dwarf.

That other stuff looks cool too. Here's hoping for good times.
